Satirical Cartoon

This Satirical Cartoon was posted on  New York Times and sparked a hug backlash from the Indian community because of its depiction of Indians on the picture or because of how it depicted Indians as not technologically advanced. This caused for New York Times to go on their Facebook account and apologize for any offence it might have caused. This cartoon is commenting on India now being more involved in space research and becoming an active part of that community with their successful launch of the Mangalyaan which is a craft that is now set to orbit mars. This is shown in the cartoon as India trying to gain access to the Elite Space Club. It is also mocking India buy alluding to the fact that they aren't as advanced as westerners which is shown by how India is depicted as wearing Indian garb and with cattle while the westerners are wearing suits and drinking wine.

This cartoon was a response from Hindustan Times commenting on the failure of the Antares rocket launch and how their own attempt wasn't meet with failure. It is referencing the previous cartoon with the guy with the cattle and the Elite Space Club and pointing out how the "underdeveloped" country was able to pull off a perfect launch on their first attempt and the elite group failed to complete their launch even though it wasn't their first.
